Introduction

The American Lebanese Coalition (ALC), an umbrella organization that groups the largest four associations of Lebanese American organizations that represent the vast majority of American of Lebanese descent reiterates its statement issued on July 13, 2006.

Statement

It considers the kidnapping by Hezbollah of two Israeli soldiers from inside Israel to have dragged Lebanon, once again, into another asymmetrical conflict. The defenseless Lebanese people are now suffering the brunt of the Israeli retaliation, as usual.  Although the Lebanese government has distanced itself from the operation and did not condone it, Hezbollah still insists on imposing this fight on all the Lebanese. This total disregard for Lebanese sovereignty and for the Lebanese will continues to be practiced by Hezbollah with impunity.  It is leading Lebanon into a new disaster, which could threaten the fragile recovery process.

Hezbollah is utilizing the Israeli retaliation against civilian targets to inflame the emotions of the Lebanese while it fights a proxy war for Iran and its regional allies.
